Hong Kong's craft beer pioneer, Black Kite Brewery, will be hosting FLOCKFEST 2026 at PMQ, Hong Kong from September 11 to 13. With the theme of 'Brewing Beyond Beer', the event will bring together 8 high-quality breweries from Hong Kong and Japan, along with a variety of music, culinary and art acts, to create a unique weekend experience that blends brewing craftsmanship with local culture.
Craft beer has been a popular trend in Japan and Hong Kong for over a decade, and brewers continue to break free from traditional boundaries, exploring new ingredients and refining their brewing techniques to create novel flavors. Sharing this vision, Black Kite Brewery is determined to bring the brewing passion of both regions to Central, inviting 4 distinctive Japanese breweries and 4 popular local brands to join FLOCKFEST 2026. The event will feature 20 beer taps, offering over 50 excellent brews, including classic citrus-flavored beers and surprising creations fermented with sake yeast. Beer enthusiasts can indulge in these diverse flavors and also exclusively try 8 limited-edition beers crafted especially for this occasion.
The Japanese lineup includes West Coast Brewing from Shizuoka, hailed as the pioneer that introduced the beer culture of the Northwest Pacific to Japan. They will be presenting a rich and layered Hazy Double IPA. Far Yeast Brewing, known for their fusion of European tradition and contemporary creativity, will showcase a refreshing Session New England NEIPA crafted with Belgian brewing techniques and local Japanese ingredients. Additionally, two highly anticipated Japanese brands are making their debut in Hong Kong: Black Tide Brewing, a reconstruction project after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, will offer a delicate and fragrant tea-scented Ale; DD4D Brewing, a fashion boutique-turned-brewery from Ehime, will launch a citrusy Saison, showcasing the citrus aroma through the dry hopping technique.
As the local craft beer pioneer and host of the event, Black Kite Brewery has selected a new New Zealand hop to craft a Tropical Pacific Ale, exuding a perpetual fruit aroma. Yardley Brothers showcases their oak barrel aging technique with a Sour NEIPA that combines sour and deep woody aromas. hEROES Beer Co, known for their storytelling approach, has blended traditional sake yeast with classic hops to create a West Coast IPA. The award-winning Deadman Brewery maintains their innovative style, presenting a crisp and refined Koji Saison that transcends the boundaries of Eastern and Western brewing techniques.
FLOCKFEST 2026 will also feature musical performances curated by LIKEWISE, a Hong Kong-based independent contemporary art media platform, with the participation of 15 renowned local independent singers, making it a must-attend event for Hong Kong music enthusiasts.
Biascut, known for their fusion of heavy distortion, shoegaze, and dream pop, will kick off Friday evening with fast-paced British rock and post-punk melodies. On Saturday, the acclaimed singer-songwriter Reggie the Leaf will captivate audiences with a unique blend of jazz and breakbeats, paired with heartfelt confessional lyrics. On Sunday, Black Lodge Cabaret will disperse the summer heat with cinematic vintage rock and surf rock, leaving a lingering vibe reminiscent of California sunshine. Independent musicians Mr. Koo and Risy will also take the stage, ensuring the atmosphere stays at its peak.
A range of popular eateries will be present, offering unique beer snacks. Former Front Room, relocated from Tai Hang to Wan Chai, will serve their signature Asian street flavors, while SoHo's beloved Sonny's Slice Shop will pair their New York sourdough pizza with ice-cold craft beer, providing a refreshing summer experience. The event will also feature exclusive merchandise and interactive workshops, catering to the curious-minded. FLOCKFEST 2026 aims to transcend the boundaries of food, local culture, and music, becoming an annual event that unites Hong Kong's creative circles.
On September 3, Black Kite Brewery will host a 'First Sip' event at the popular bar Second Draft, giving the public a chance to taste exclusive beers ahead of FLOCKFEST 2026.
